Cherry Hill Police Department Training Unit

Quality Service through Education & Training

Lt. Robert English, Director of Training
PO3 Richard Tomlinson, Training Coordinator
PO1 Donna Campbell, Training Coordinator

The Cherry Hill Township Police Department Training Unit consists of three full time employees, a Director of Training and two Training Coordinators. Their responsibility is to schedule and conduct all training for the entire police department. To accomplish this task they employ the services of many other officers, ranging in rank from Patrol Officer to Captain, that are assigned to other divisions within the department. The types of training that are provided are that which are required by law and extra or supplemental to enhance the quality of the officer's education. Thus increasing the officer's performance and level of service to the community they serve.

The Training Unit also hosts a number of police training courses that are sponsored by private organizations. By hosting these classes the unit is able to provide additional training that would not be possible otherwise.

Requirements of Probationary Police Officers:

  • One week of Pre-Academy Agency Training
  • Successful completion of an approved Police Academy
  • One week of Post-Academy Agency Training
  • Successful completion of the fourteen week long Field Training Program
