The Cherry Hill Township Police Department Training Unit schedules and oversees all training for the entire police department. In addition to the officers assigned to the unit, there is a cadre of veteran officers from all units within the department, which are utilized to enhance officer training. The training provided to each officer includes that required by law as well as supplemental training to further the officer’s knowledge base and job skills. The Cherry Hill Police Department believes that the high standard of training we provide will increase the level of performance and service to the community we are sworn to serve.

The Training Unit also hosts a number of police training courses that are sponsored by private organizations. By hosting these classes the unit is able to provide additional training that would not be possible otherwise.

Requirements of Probationary Police Officers:

• One week of Pre-Academy Agency Training
• Successful completion of an approved Police Academy
• One week of Post-Academy Agency Training
• Successful completion of the fourteen week long Field Training Program
