For Questions about Traffic Tickets and Court Summonses, please contact the
Municipal Court. The Municipal Court/Violations Bureau handles all criminal
complaints, ordinance violations and traffic tickets issued in the Township.
This includes complaints and tickets issued by Cherry Hill Police, New Jersey
State Police, Camden County Park Police and Port Authority Transit Police. This
office schedules cases for hearings, accepts bail, and maintains records of
criminal and traffic tickets for attorneys, defendants, residents and the general
public.
When do I call 9-1-1?
Residents often ask when to use 9-1-1. The Cherry Hill Police Departments
regular number (665-1200) handles non-emergency situations traffic problems,
vandalism, noise complaints. But, if you are calling when a crime is in progress,
to report a fire or to request emergency medical assistance, call 9-1-1. Hearing
impaired residents can call 9-1-1-TDD (telephone device for the deaf). On a
cell phone in Cherry Hill, call the direct police department number, 665-1200,
even in an emergency because if you dial 9-1-1 from your cell phone, your call
will be transferred to the nearest cellular tower, not the Cherry Hill police.
Alarm systems which direct dial the police station should be programmed to call
665-1200 (never 9-1-1).
How do I get a copy of a Police Report?
You can request a copy in person at Police Central Records, 820 Mercer Street,
Cherry Hill, NJ 08002 between 9AM and 5PM, Monday through Friday. Copies are
75 cents per page, or by mail with a $5 check made payable to the Township of
Cherry Hill.
How do I register a commendation or complaint regarding the Police Department?
If you have a complaint or comment regarding any police officer, you may
submit a complaint in person, by telephone, or by mail. It is best to register
your complaint as soon after the incident as possible. All complaints will be
thoroughly investigated.

What can a motorist expect during a traffic stop?
- Officer may activate red lights, horn/siren to gain your attention
- Additional officers may arrive as back-up
- Officers will state their name/department and advise you why you are being
stopped
- Officer will request your license, insurance ID card and registration
- Officer may search your vehicle if (1) you cannot produce proof of ownership
or registration for the vehicle, (2) probable cause exists that your vehicle
contains evidence of a crime or illegal materials, (3) you are arrested or
your vehicle is impounded
- Officer may issue a traffic summons
- Motorists can expect to be treated fairly, courteously and in a professional
manner
What can a police officer expect during a traffic stop?
- Driver should safely operate a vehicle to right side of roadway and stop
- Driver/occupants should keep hands in plain view and stay in car unless
told otherwise
- Driver should have license, registration and insurance card ready for the
officer
- Driver should not make any sudden movements. Advise officer if you need
to enter your glove compartment to retrieve your license, registration or
insurance card
- Driver should not debate the issuance of a summons on the highway; any disputes
will be settled in court
